I have worked as a graphic designer/illustrator since 1969, when I began working in the retail
advertising industry in Melbourne, Victoria. I then spent three years in New Zealand where I
obtained further experience in advertising agencies. From 1979 until 1986 I lived in Seattle, U.S.A.
where I worked as a freelance designer/illustrator. I have worked in the Canberra area for fifteen
years, ten of which I was self-employed. I now work for Metrographics, a small well-established
design studio in Canberra.
A large component of my work has been of an environmental theme. I have designed all graphics for
ACT NOWaste since 1991, which has given me some insight into the issues involved with waste
disposal and recycling. I have also designed and illustrated posters and publications for
Environment Australia and the Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander Commission.
My main interests outside work for many years have been organic gardening and animal welfare.
These activities, combined with an upbringing on a fruit property in Victoria have given me an
ongoing interest in the care of the environment on both a local and global level. For these reasons, I
find it very satisfying to work for organizations which are dedicated to improving the state of the
planet.
